UAV Systems Developer

As a UAV systems developer, your will develop and integrate technologies to take our autonomous drones beyond the visual line of sight of the pilot. As a BVLOS drone will be commanded remotely from a Drone Operations Center via a mobile network (LTE), you will need to build and maintain on-board systems that detect and avoid obstacles, obey the rules and regulations of the pilot’s organization and the government respectively, and respond safely to a variety of emergencies, system failures, and operational constraints.

We have an exciting opportunity for our Future Flight project. As our UAV Systems Engineer (DAA), you will be responsible for systems engineering and technical leadership for the Detect and Avoid (DAA) sub-system for a consortium that includes various drone manufacturers.

  • At least 2 years of experience in UAV flying platforms and sensor payloads, with real world experience implementing algorithms such as autonomous control, or detect and avoid sub-systems. Other relevant background includes working with air-to-air radar, traffic collision avoidance systems, or ADS-B
  • Expert in at least one robotics/UAV platforms, such as ROS, Ardupilot, PX4, or similar, and comfortable working on flight controller firmware. Experience with CAAS or FAA rules a plus
  • Able to lead a team of UAV systems engineers and developers

  • Proactively review the team’s work, provide guidance regarding compliance, create sound internal controls, and audit internal processes frequently to ensure it complies with the latest regulations and industry standards
  • Engage civil aviation authorities in all the countries we operate in to keep them abreast with our latest products and services, and ensure compliance of such products and services prior to operations in each country

Requirements

  • Engineering degree preferred, but open to others (e.g. Legal) with relevant experience in UAVs
  • At least one year experience in UAV test, qualification, and compliance for a reputable CAA (E.g. airworthiness test for CAAS or FAA)
