Garuda Robotics joins the fight against dengue and zika with the launch of Garuda DragonFly, a UAV system for monitoring disease-affected areas and depositing larvicide on hard-to-reach places like roof gutters.
Part of an initiative by an inter-agency UAS committee to test out more than 25 uses of drones in Singapore’s public sector, the DragonFly system made its first public appearance today in the presence of Mr Pang Kin Keong, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Transport, representatives from the National Environment Agency, and the media.
The DragonFly system consists of a UAV carrying a camera and an onboard delivery mechanism that enables environment inspection officers to locate standing water in hard-to-reach places in real-time and deposit mosquito larvicide such as Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis (Bti) accurately without working at heights.
